Who is Chad?
Chad Conway is an adaptive fast learning design engineer with a passion for hardware products that affect people's lives everyday. He is a natural leader who loves to learn and share knowledge. He is constantly searching for additional places to positively impact the world through hard work and engineering. You can find him at community events ranging from health technology to historic art and everywhere in between.
He graduated from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology with a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Beyond Chad's coursework, his proudest achievement was that he created the now annual Rose Startup, a conference to bring entrepreneurs to campus to encourage students to consider entrepreneurship as a possible career path. He was also the Co-founder of RISE, Rose Innovative Student Entrepreneurs, a club organized to support and educate student entrepreneurs. His achievements at Rose-Hulman also included leading the student voice in the creating the 2013-2018 Strategic Plan. Further, he enjoyed spending time on the EcoCAR Team including participating as the overall team leader during the final year of competition.
Chad’s experience includes several positions at Tesla Motors and a summer at MIT. At Tesla, he has been a part of both automotive and energy grid battery design. At MIT, Chad was fortunate to assist the Smart Cities Group designing the City Car. He is honored at having achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and proud of the memorable project that resulted from this effort.
Chad’s first passion was electric cars. Starting in his sophomore year in high school he began working on electric car projects. By his junior year he had completely rebuilt a 1980 electric Comuta-Car that he drives as his primary means of transportation to this day. This practical experience leads him to believe that electric drive is the most efficient and practical alternative to internal combustion engines.
