July 03, 2006Well it is very close to the parade and I am in great shape. I am charging the batteries which I bought at Sam's Club for a whopping $41ea. Yesterday I took the Comuta-car out for her maiden voyage. She ran for about 5 miles and the parade route is only 2.3 miles. However, while I was riding I should have been wearing my seat belt because it got stuck under the seat and shorted out on the controller which caused a battery connector to get burnt through. Luckily Autozone was open until 7pm on a Sunday because I ran down there and got a new one. Then I finished the test run.
Also,I replaced a fuse and it fixed my hazards and blinkers. In addition , I am rewiring the horn because the wire to it had be worn and not only blew the horn, but probably blew that fuse. I have a new fuse and I am using the extra space in my battery box to keep it out of the mud that comes off the tires(since its original place was bolted to the frame behind the right front wheel).
Third, the emergency brake I have installed the new e-brake switch that Glen Stevens donated and the switch works well but I am having a problem keeping it push in while driving. For the parade I plan or using a small bungy cord to keep it down.
This means that I am ready for the parade. In addition it means that the only things still to complete are straightening out the title, getting the c-car registered, a new wiper fluid system, checking the chargers, and buying the last four batteries.
